First QSO’s on 13cm

EME Posted on Fri, November 02, 2012 10:14:55

Nov 1st I worked G3LTF and DL1YMK/A for my first two contacts on 13cm EME. I hope I can work some more stations before we loose our 13cm band here in Sweden.

13cm last minute effort

EME Posted on Sun, October 07, 2012 08:18:55

13 cm is not available to SM any longer, but I have a high power permit to the end of 2012.

Yesterday (Oct 6) I was on 13cm trying to work a QSO.
Heard DL1YMK, OZ4MM, ES5PC, ON5TA, PA3DZL and HB9Q, all with pretty easy copy. I
tried a few CQs and was heard by SM4IVE. I have a number of issues before I can
say I am QRV. The antenna tracking works nicely but need a better preamp (0,8 dB
now) and I don’t know how much power I have into the feed.

SK6OSO dismantling Sunday afternoon

EME Posted on Tue, July 05, 2011 17:38:57

Sunday afternoon we had to remove our equipment little earlier than anticipated. Everything is located behind the feed in a narrow hub some 15m agl. To get there you need to climb through the drive system and it is well oiled…

You may watch two videos from the operation on

The guys above sit inside the white “hub” shown on this picture.

SK6OSO operating on 6cm

Left to right: SM6GXV chatting, SM6PGP discussing something with SM6FHZ and myself SM6CKU operating. We worked 22 different stations on 6cm, which we were very happy with. Unfortunately we had to dismantle little earlier than expected on Sunday, thus we probably missed a few.

Left to right: SM6KOK, SM6GWA, SM6ENG and the boss, SM6GXV, resting outside.

SK6OSO on 6cm

I didn’t finish my own set up to work SK6OSO so I became one of the operators instead. Access to the telescope is provided by Ulf, SM6GXV who works at OSO. The transverter was built by Hannes, SM6PGP and the SSPA was provided by Tord, SM6GWA. Installation was carried out Friday afternoon/evening but we didn’t get time to test. Picture shows Hannes connecting the SSPA. Saturday morning several other operators and members of our group showed up to support the activity.

4m project

EME Posted on Fri, May 06, 2011 10:59:15

Everything is slowly coming together and I really hope I will be ready to work SK6OSO on 6cm the first weekend of July. The 26,5m antenna, that we used on 23cm two years ago, will be activated on 5760 MHz this time.

On 6cm I have a CP-horn made by WD5AGO, a DG0VE preamp, DB6NT transverter and a Hughes TWTA with 60 watts output. I plan to place it at the back of the dish.

There seems to be quite a lot of stations to work.

Swedish EME get together

EME Posted on Tue, February 15, 2011 11:02:24

SM4IVE is organising an informal EME spring meeting May 13-15 in the Örebro area. This area is regarded as the demographic centre of Sweden.

Focus is on 432 MHz and Up. The majority of SM bouncers will attend and it now looks like there will be visitors from G, DL, PA, ON, HB and OZ as well. It will be fun, but please remember, it’s not a conference!
